Friends of Animal Rescue is a 501(C)(3) non profit organization that was founded in 2010 to assist the City of Port Isabel when the City took control of the Isabel Y. Garcia Animal Shelter. After placing the shelter’s 400 animals, Friends refocused their efforts towards the animals on South Padre Island.

We believe there is a home for each and every homeless animal. We do not believe in euthanizing for the sake of over population, thus we are a no kill shelter for the City of South Padre Island.

We are the voice of the animals, assisting & caring for over 800 animals in a given year.

We are capable of assisting with non-aquatic animals, injured birds and other wildlife, we are a non-kill organization. We do not euthanize for more space, we offer services such as dog-training, food for fostering, micro-chipping pets, and education on temperature safety for animals.
